What fluorinated gases are
- Fluorinated greenhouse gases (F-gases) are man-made gases used mainly as refrigerants, but also in fire protection systems and electrical switchgear.
- The three regulated families are hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), perfluorocarbons (PFCs) and sulphur hexafluoride (SF6).
- They contain no chlorine, so unlike older CFCs they do not deplete the ozone layer.
