Designing wet systems for low flow temperatures so they run efficiently now and suit a future heat pump.
Why low temperature
Condensing boilers and especially heat pumps are most efficient when the return temperature is low. A boiler condenses fully when the return water is below roughly 55°C, recovering latent heat from the flue gases. Heat pumps lose efficiency quickly as flow temperature rises, so they are designed for flow temperatures around 35 to 50°C rather than the 70 to 80°C of older systems.
