Calculating heat lost through the building fabric using U-values and the Q = U x A x deltaT method.
What fabric loss is
Fabric heat loss is the heat conducted out through the building envelope — external walls, windows, doors, roof and ground floor. Each element has a U-value in W/m2K: the rate of heat flow through one square metre for each degree of temperature difference. A lower U-value means better insulation.
