Periodic maintenance

Heating systems need routine care to stay efficient and safe. Typical tasks, to the manufacturer schedule, include:

• An annual appliance service (any gas work must be carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer; this revision aid does not replace that qualification).
• Checking and topping up the corrosion inhibitor concentration with a test.
• Cleaning the magnetic filter.
• Checking system pressure, the expansion vessel charge and the pressure relief valve.
• Inspecting the flue and confirming the controls still operate.
