Balancing and Operational Checks

Setting radiator lockshields for an even temperature drop and proving every control operates correctly.

Why balancing matters

Without balancing, water takes the easy path through the radiators nearest the pump, leaving distant rooms cold. Balancing adjusts each radiator lockshield valve so every emitter receives the right flow and achieves the design temperature drop across it — commonly about 11K on a boiler system, though low-temperature designs use smaller drops.
